Jamba Weekly Agendas All Sessions

Please follow this template so that all coaches/teams are doing the same thing:
---
Segments will be 15 minutes long with a 1-minute water break in between
---
All sessions will do the same agenda weekly. Scale it up/down depending on the age of the kids. We want every level to be challenged.

  • #2 - 3 vs 3 Shell Drill

  • 5 minutes: 2v2 LIVE - Must initiate with dribbling at the opposite defender
WATCH VIDEO
Week 5- September 23-25
---
First 15 Minutes
---
Pivot and Pass Drill:
  • Show the drill and try to get everyone in unison: dribble, pivot, pass all at the same time. One wrinkle to the video...after the pass is made back to the baseline, the players that made the pass will sprint and close out to the player on the baseline
  • NO CHEST PASSES
  • ** Each pass starts with a ball fake: [Bounce Passes: Fake High/Pass Low]  --  [Non-Bounce Passes: Fake Low/ Pass High] **
  • Do each combination 5 times- Right Leg (RL) Forward Pivot, Left Leg (LL) Forward Pivot, RL Reverse Pivot, LL Reverse Pivot
  • Passes: Right Hand (RH) Push Pass, Left Hand (LH) Push Pass, RH Hook Pass, LH Hook Pass, RH Hook Bounce Pass, LH Hook Bounce Pass

WATCH VIDEO
Week 6- Sept 30-Oct 2
---
First 15 Minutes
---
Two Foot Finishes (Just watch first 2 Min of Video):
  • Have the kids run through the motion (1) several times without the ball, emphasizing the importance of being on balance, avoiding charges and being more in control playing off two feet
  • (1) 5 min- Start from the elbow, alternating kids between the right and left, with a simple two dribble quick/jump stop into a hand away finish (as shown in the video)
  • (2) 5 Min- Do the same move as above, now introduce a pump fake before the finish [using the same footwork as used in (1)]
  • (3) More Advanced- After coming to a two foot stop, then pump fake and the kids do a step through to finish with the off hand (Video)
WATCH VIDEO
---
Second 15 minutes
---
Playing off 2 feet Live:
  • 5 minutes of the drill shown in the video below--one dribble power stop and finish, however after they do it a couple time then have one player play defense and try to stop the offense from scoring. Once everyone has gone through once, switch the defender- Have this going on BOTH sides of the basket so kids are getting more reps and the offense switches sides each time they go
  • Remainder of the time we are going live (1 v 1):
  1. Players start on the same wing, one on offense and one on defense (defense is playing dummy)
  2. Player with the ball makes a move out of the triple threat (jab step or jab crossover) and must come to a two-foot stop in the key, pivot to make a pass back to the defender (who is still on the wing)
  3. When the player catches the ball, the passer is now closing out and we are going live. The player now on offense must make a move to try to score, but must do so finishing off two feet
WATCH VIDEO
Week 7- October 7-9 (Playoffs)
---
First 15 Minutes
---
If you don't have enough to go 3 v 3, you have two options: 1) Have the coach play (if you are one short) 2) Join with another team that is short and go against each other
---
Pass and Screen Away- Offense and Defense:
  • 7.5 Min- 3 on 0 OFFENSE--just to show the motion and options available - Emphasize moving without the ball, cut hard, wait for screens and replace open areas
  • 7.5 Min- 3 on 3 DUMMY DEFENSE: Go over the defensive concepts: - Forcing man to weak hand (on the ball) - On the line, Up the Line (one pass away) - Jump to the ball, help midline/nail (two passes away)
WATCH VIDEO
---
Second 15 minutes
---
Pass and Screen Away Live (3 v 3):
  • 5 minutes- Begin with a pass and cut/screen away--Then Go Live, but the defense can't steal the ball.
  • 10 minutes- Begin with a pass and cut/screen away, (video below)--then Go Live the offense has 7 seconds to score playing live

Rules

  • Each team will play 6 regular season games, followed by two playoff games. Playoff seeding will be determined by the standings/results of the regular season
  • Each game will consist of two (2) 16 minute running halves. Halftime is two (2) minutes
  • The last two (2) minutes of the game, refs will keep time on a stopwatch and countdown the last 30 seconds. If the game is close (within 6 points), the clock will stop in the final minute of the second half
  • Each team will get one (1) timeout per game. Timeouts are 45 seconds long
  • Every free throw/shooting foul is one (1) free throw. A make equals two (2) points and a miss equals zero (0) points
  • AND ONE’s results in three (3) points, NO free throw
  • Pressing: 1st and 2nd grade will have a NO press rule in order to keep the flow of the game going.  For all other grades, pressing is permitted in the 2nd half if the score is within 10 pointsPress for ALL Levels is allowed in the last minute of the game in order for teams to foul to stop the clock. ALL fouls in the last minute result in a FREE THROW
  • Playing time will be distributed equally amongst the players to best of their coach’s ability
  • Overtime Regular Season: Go immediately to shootout where each player gets one free throw attempt. The team with the most made free throws after an even number of attempts has been made wins the game. Teams must shoot the same number of free throws. If there is a tie after this, repeat the process.
  • Overtime Playoffs and Finals: Add 3 minutes to the clock and play the full 3 minutes. If there is a tie after this, Add two minutes and play the full 2 minutes. If it goes Triple OT, go into a shootout.
